About

My Experience

I’ve dedicated the last 13 years to studying and working in the field of psychology. During this time I have completed a Bachelor of arts degree in psychology and Master of arts degree in behaviour from the University of Aberdeen, a Master of science degree in psychology from Manchester Metropolitan University and more recently I have obtained a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from Trinity College Dublin.

I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults with various presentations and in hospital, community and private settings. my doctoral training in Ireland involved working in HSE CAMHS, adult primary care services and both child & adult Disability services, supporting people with complex mental health difficulties. Prior to my doctoral training, I spent several years working in medical and research settings with people coping with anxiety, depression, and compulsive disorders, such as OCD and Trichotillomania. I also have extensive experience working to assess, diagnose and conduct care pathways for children with Autism, learning difficulties and developmental delays.

My Approach

A humanistic psychologist at heart, my way of working is fundamentally based upon person-centred principles and human rights, with a focus on creating a supportive therapeutic alliance. Sessions integrate elements of evidence-based therapies such as emotion-focused therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioural therapy. I also have experience working with parents and families. Overall, my professional values encompass empowerment, inclusivity and social justice, and i have a special interest in working with people who are part of systemically marginalised communities.
